Dedications

I never understood paintings, and never understood what people looked in it and understood of it. Resigning to my lack of understanding, as in many things, I never did make any attempts either, to understand paintings. Yes I do enjoy landscape paintings and realistic painting of people in various moods and emotions, but could never decipher artistic intricacies and was never interested in knowing the history of works of the painter, and the WoW factor in which many would look at paintings. Once had the fortune of visiting a Picasso Exhibition, and just could not understand head or tail of his paintings, as the paintings did have the head in the wrong part of the anatomy. Not wanting to disclose my idiotic image, I faked the WoW factor of the painting till I realized there were many who were faking like me as one of the guys was admiring a scribble which was actually graffiti, and thought it was a Picasso.

Now for fantatic fans or art lovers of M.F. Hussain, he may be second coming, but for many like me I wished he had never come. An eccentric who got so swayed by the swiveling of the buttocks of Madhuri Dixit in a movie, that he watched the movie a zillion times till the part where she moved her buttocks and used to walk away from the cinema after that. No doubt he was a great marketer, who did a painting of Madhuri’s buttocks, and there were many who bought the piece of ass, I mean art.

His idiosyncrasy of weird dressing sense and walking bare foot may have made him a cult fashion image. People who wanted to flaunt a status image prided of his paintings adorning their walls. His work adorned great institutions globally. Then he did not understand the sensitivity of life and felt he had the creative liberty to pass off anything as art. In a country like India where everything, anything and anyone is religion, it is not just sacrilege but suicidal playing with people’s faith. M.F. Hussain is a great painter no doubt, but equally is he a bigger idiot. His undoing was painting of Hindu Goddess in the nude. Little did he realize that in India you don’t mess with religion, politicians, police and the underworld, as all of them do the reverse of what they are supposed to do except the underworld. Expect religion to unite and it has divided India; Politicians to rule justly but they ruin effectively; Police to protect the people but most of the time they are protecting the politicians; the underworld is the only institution that does its work effectively.

Had M.F. Hussain to do paintings of his religious prophets in the nude, he wouldn’t have been lucky to be the old bag that he is today, and neither would he have holed up in an Islamic country and seek refuge under their citizenship. In an Islamic country mess around with the religion and you are history or maybe he would been hung like his paintings.

Sad we have politicians like Chidambaram who are requesting M.F. Hussain to come back to India and assuring him his saftey. Mr. Chidambaram it would be nice if you could focus on your duty of protecting the country as a Minister of Home Affairs, but then when did politicians ever do anything right in India. As for Mr. M.F. Hussain he is bloody insane.
