The Snake in Eden

Horse straddling on a beach one morning
Down the sea side with the sun shining
A large hearted Indian Chief saw a slithering white snake on the sea side
Beautiful and innocent outside and presumed would be the same deep inside

Welcome to my Eden, you white beautiful creation of God, said the Chief
Come and partake in my bounty, not realizing he would be refuging a thief

Thank you for letting me in Oh High Chief
Thank you and I plan to be here only a brief
Thank you for realizing I am a creation of God
Snickering fangs of weapons with a vicious nod

Hugged the snake and gave him a peck
Not realizing he had coiled around his neck
The snake multiplied and the Indian tribe diminished
Diminished with fangs of weapons and their freedom finished
Regaling the Indians to the corner of a land the snake hissed

Thank you for letting me in Oh High Chief
Thank you and I plan to be here only a brief
Thank you for realizing I am a creation of God
Snickering fangs of weapons with a vicious nod

The Indian cried as his tribe was killed and land taken
“Why Why to me who took you in, you have forsaken”
“How can a creation of God be so evil?”
Not realizing the snake was the devil

Thank you for letting me in Oh High Chief
Thank you and I plan to be here only a brief
Thank you for realizing I am a creation of God
Snickering fangs of weapons with a vicious nod

The devil slaved other creations of God
Snickering his fangs with a vicious nod
He made the Garden of Eden and Hell on earth
Destroying all moral values and making it dearth

Thank you for letting me in Oh High Chief
Thank you and I plan to be here only a brief
Thank you for realizing I am a creation of God
Snickering fangs of weapons with a vicious nod

Others who came to prosper the land and to prosper
He termed them as snakes who came to plunder
The Chief cried’ “Let them stay as they contribute”
The devil wanted them, only to exploit them and loot

The Chief cried louder “I sheltered you and you destroyed me, Why?
Hello with you Chief, I came here to live and don’t care if you die

Thank you for letting me in Oh High Chief
As I plan to live here forever and can be here only a brief
Thank you for realizing I am a creation of God
Snickering fangs of weapons with a vicious nod
