The harvest is rich
Land scams in the Catholic Church
of Bombay, and silence of the top brass of the Church, and the unfortunate part,
only few Catholics are raising their voice along with one priest in the tow. So
these few Catholics and the priest would now fast to death, till Oswald
Cardinal Gracias, the Archbishop of Bombay, resigns. Now neither is going to
happen. Catholics fasting to death due to corruption of the religious head,
sounds weird. Instead they should be fasting to death, for bigger National
Issues. Then coming to the Archbishop to resign. Either he has to be sick like
the last Pope, who used sickness as a reason to resign, which was good, as he
was a part of the crumbling Church, with many Catholics resigning from the Church.
It was just lucky that the Catholic Church got a ‘shot in the arm’ with Pope
Francis. This would be now construed as the Holy Spirit intervening to save the
Church. So where was the Holy Spirit earlier which is depicted as a dove; was it
roosting somewhere? So Oswald Cardinal Gracias resigning will not happen unless
he is shot in the head, which could be a shot in the arm for the Catholic
Church of Bombay. But then how many heads are we going to shoot, as Bombay
Catholic Church never had good leadership and will never have one for a long time,
at least till the second coming.
These Catholics are now demanding
a Parsi Punchayat like structure wherein residential colonies are developed for
the community. With what is happening in the Parsi Punchayat is something to go
by, it is better to be the Catholic Styled Institution where
Catholics don’t know what is happening and don’t care, and feel Catholic by attending
Sunday Mass. Parsis which was the most respected community in India, for its
gentle nature, quirky fun filled madness and not to mention entrepreneurs who prided
as ‘nation builders’. Today the Parsi Punchayat elections is something like
National elections, bribing voters with TVs and refrigerators, office bearers
coming to blows. So if this is what the Catholics are demanding, it would be
another melee of bigger corruption. To make it worse Catholics are not
community like the Parsis. It a wide spectrum of communities from across India ‘trying’
to follow one religion. On a lighter note, trying to emulate the Parsis the Catholics
may end up being a dwindling community like the Parsis, which may soon end up
being an extinct species.
Christianity (especially
Catholics) don’t have any binding or bonding factor of fellowship, as it is
split into communities of Goans, Mangaloreans, Keralities, East Indians, etc,
etc. So this becomes a challenge which has only been somewhat managed successfully
by the Muslims. Now this is not trying to prove the superiority of Islam or
Muslims in India, and not that there are no problems in their community, but
look at it a ‘little bit closer’. With all the vandalism of Churches happening
in recent times; could whichever is the outfit doing it, dare try to do it with
a mosque in the current time. This is neither trying to instigate the Catholics
to resort to violence, but to unite and think collectively. The problem with
Catholic Church at least in Bombay is it has a corrupt bunch of jokers heading
the Church. This leads to frustration of good priests who cannot make a change,
and the laity is too laid back to change. In the process we have ‘external
elements’ who vandalise and threaten the Church, and we ‘internal elements’ who
siphon off Church properties. Add to it, is the audacity of the Archbishop
House office, who state that some of the people who are protesting against the
Church are themselves living in Church properties. What is Church property? It
is Church property because parishioners contribute towards the Church and thus
they have these properties? Who is the Church ultimately? It is the community of
Catholics collectively and not some clown dressed cardinal donning a pointed witch
hat, who thinks he owns the Church.

Blackanomics
With all the zeal of the
government/s to curb black money, the situation is getting worse or better for
the one’s indulging in black money. Black money is primarily illegal trade,
crime and drugs. Avoidance or evasion of tax payment is grey money. Avoidance
of tax payments would reduce, if benefits were tangible with basics of equal
healthcare, equal education, equal amenities of water and power, fixed pricing
of essential food items, and decent infrastructure and transportation. Nothing
is equal in India. Everything is disproportion, with haves and have nots. It is
a feral rule of the powerful, with the strength being money or being in
governance. Recent happenings have shown you can do anything with the power of
money and being in governance, where you can buy the law, and get away even with
killings. As Indians we should be proud, we have reversed racism where Black
(Corrupt) Power and Black Money rules us. The only white who (indirectly) ruled
us was Sonia Gandhi whose party can be traced to the genesis of Black Money.
Recent plan of one house for one
family in Delhi to reduce black money infusion into real estate sounds bizarre.
The other reason is depletion of ground water reserve. Instead why not restrict
a family to have only two kids (ideal one kid). Give tax concession / subsidies
to these families which would eliminate the root problem of India which is
population. If real estate is getting funded with black money, then why not all
purchases be done through an ‘independent body’. So if a house needs to be sold
at X amount, they buyer just pays the independent body, where the builder has
no choice of whom to sell. There should be no interaction with the builder, who
instead should be monitored for quality and deliverables on time. Let prices be
all inclusive so the buyer does not need to bother of paying registration /
stamp duty / taxes, etc. It is a one window payment. Similar to when one pays
Income Tax, it is paid to one authority and does not pay multiple bodies for
which the tax money is used for. As each of these bodies in the real estate
sector are just avenues of corruption and black money. If black money is getting
funneled through real estate, so why not narrow the Black Hole?
Black money is primarily the need
to fund personal greed of materialism & capitalism. There is no other need
that can be met with black money. So if education is equal there would be no
funding for alleged better quality of education which is in the private sector
which is basically educating kids towards materialism. If healthcare is equal,
then there would be no funding to private healthcare as anyways it is the same
medication that cures, needless to mention the quality of Doctors administering
the care. Unfortunately the educationists and healthcare professionals have no
choice but to pursue lucrative private careers. Education is now a business of
private coaching classes and private colleges / schools. Medication or hospitalization
is how much you can pay to stay or be kept alive. So the nobility of the
profession is lost and character gets Black.
Unfortunately the system is built
to encourage black money. So if you pay black money for real estate the buyer
ends up paying lesser amount for taxes as stamp duty / registration / etc. Same
with education with capitation fees, where it is not your merit that qualifies
you for a seat in medicine or engineering but how much you can pay. In the
process one ends with poor quality of professionals who then pursue careers
with just monetary gains and the whole wheel spins all over again. Instead of
Black Money, the focus should be on Education which is Black, where minds are
confused. Education is focused to which language you should learn, which
religion should be taught instead of morality, what is history according to the
party that is ruling, and not want really happened. In the process the core
aspect of education gets darkened with children facing a Black Future, and
resorting to Black Avenues of higher education and profession. Today white
collar / political crimes are what fuels real crime. Financial scams says it
all. The guardians of public wealth and the government who are executers of it
are involved in corrupt practices where Black Money gets fertilized. The
fertilization which should sprout Economic Growth now sprouts Black Economy.
If people could feel the tangible
aspects of tax paid, he gets encouraged to pay tax. Tax is nothing but payment
made for buying basic living standards. As simple as a man going to buy bread. If
he does not like what he want to buy he goes to another vendor to get his
quality for the price he is paying. Unfortunately with tax payment he has no
choice, there is no other vendor he can go and get a better living condition.
The vendor which is the government has a monopoly till the next elections,
siphons the coffers, and if tells you if don’t have bread, eat cakes which is
baked with promises prior to the elections. The only choice of hope an Indian has,
is wait for the next election; and ink his finger black.
