Enlightened Diwali

Is Diwali a festival of displaying lights or you being a light in someone's life?

Is is about gifting sweets or being sweet to one another?

Is it only about loud fireworks and crackers or would you be brave and loud towards injustice and not cracking under fear?

Is it about worship and welcoming Goddess Laxmi for prosperity or also you being a reason for another's prosperity?

Is it being fooled by multinationals who promote their goods or would it be us boycotting products that harm human beings and the earth?

Is it about celebrating Lord Rama's return after 14 years of exile in a forest or you returning to the ones you have been estranged with?

Is it about wishing the other a Happy Diwali or also exploring how you can be a source of happiness in someone's life?

Is it a festival of light over darkness or ensuring you are not the source of Darkness?

May you have an enlightened Diwali and be the light for others

This is Vinod Menon, Sunny. As the name next to.comment shows Anonymous, thought should introduce myself. Very well written but Diwali has till date been unsuccessful in dispelling darkness for reasons best known to all.

Lovely article enlightning our inner soul.

Enlighten, that's the apt word... hopefully your message opens up the minds of many more... Happy Diwali

This brief article is very insightful, truly looking at what the essence of this wonderful festival and how over time, commercialization and self-centered behaviors have made it seem like a festival of crackers. Wishing you all Happy Diwali in its true essence

Tamasoma Jyothirgamaya.

Beautifully penned as always Sunny. Hope this Diwali will be a joyous one for all. Happy Diwali ๐Ÿช”

Yes, Sunny. All religious festivals are meant to make us more life-giving to others, dispelling the darkness of hatred, selfishness, discrimination and human want. Unfortunately we all seem to be most unsuccessful in this. And this year the threat to democracy itself is haunting us in India. Let's play our part patiently. We must join with many good people in our land.

This Diwali let us bring happiness by helping the poor and needy,To bring smiles on their faces,To move from darkness to lightness.

Yes Sunny. It is not only during Diwali that we have to ensure bringing light into people's lives. Throughout the year we can do good deeds to bring light and love into the homes and hearts of people. That too in a quiet and graceful manner

Beautifully thought provoking... just like John Lennon's "IMAGINE".

Very well shown the essence of an hallucination bringing together the light that never always shines buy despairs spells of evil rebuilt inside.

Very well written article... you have given us something to think about... let's enlighten the darkness

Mr. Sunny, such a thought provoking message. Happy Diwali to you and your family
