Reading the above message ran memories of my childhood of a hindi movie, Deewar, where a police officer shoots a boy who robbed bread to feed his family. Then in real life witnessing a pickpocket who was caught by the public in a local train and beaten to levels which may have had him handicapped for life. Needless to mention petty thieves rotting in prison and being tortured.

Then there are high end thieves of India who are convicted like Chanada Kochhar, Vijay Mallaya, Lalit Modi, Nirav Modi, Mehul Choksi, and many many more who are not yet caught or protected by politicins. On the contrary there are politicians who could make these financial scamsters look like petty small time pick pocketers who pocketed out a bank scam. Then as mentioned are politician sponsored, patronized and protected thieves, where huge infrastructure contracts, land deals, Airports, Utilities are gifted to them like a teddy bear gifted to child. Where the politicians and their protected thieves hug the bear of its huge profits and citizens bear the brunt with taxes and inflation.

Then the thieves who rob using God. Just wondering which God ever wanted money? The millions that go as offerings to religious places if used for good of society can reduce income tax to single digit which is anyway paid by a single digit of the population which 3% of the population? Collections by religious Institutes can be so mind boggling and what is shown given to society are majestic religious structures to house God, when a good no. of the population don't even have a roof over their heads. Irony was Ram Mandir built to house Lord Ram, the roof leaked in the first monsoons that hit the state? So with all the corruption using God, we cannot give HIM too a decent roof? An acquitted rapist Catholic clergy Bishop Franco Mullakal, allegedly caught with crores of Rupees from his aide? A clergy that takes a vow of poverty, from where did he get this amount?

This was just an example and such cases are across religions.

Bringing back memories of the movie Deewar where in a scene people run behind the boy who robbed bread shouting Chor Chor (thief thief) and the policeman shooting him. So breaking news show these high profile financial scamsters, all I can do is in my mind scream Chor Chor, and keep paying taxes for thieves to continue robbing. My praying to God also does not work as I am doctrined to pay for prayers to work and ending with that too getting robbed, and I keep paying the system of governance and religion only to get robbed. If I dont pay the government I am a defaulter and can face serious legal consequences till I die. If I dont pay God I am scared I may not go to heaven, for which I have to also die.

Gratitude to my teachers on Gurupurnima

How do I thank you

My parents gave me birth
You taught me to understand my birthright
My parents only paid for my education
You made me with education and dedication

You were next after my parents in making me
Making the best part of me.....me
You did not just educate me
You also played a part in me

Whatever I have achieved in life today
There is your part that played in me everyday
Not realising your contribution consciously
And on realising on occasions I fall short gratefully

A ode to all my teachers which included Priests and brothers and faculty staff in educational institutes I have been educated in. Especially Don Bosco's Matunga
